GREEN GOLD OF ITALY

Considered more than just a mere nut, but an actual fruit, the pistachio has found its way into the hearts and bellies of many all over the world for being uniquely tasty and nutritious. Pistachios in Italy are found in many forms, shapes, and sizes, with all of them being undeniably delicious but the one thing that makes them reign above all other pistachios; Bronte.

The magical word that makes eyes redirect and your ears prick as you see or hear “BRONTE” on any ingredients list with pistachios on it. Bronte is a humble region in the southernmost part of Italy, Sicily, that barely produces 1% of the world’s pistachios and is the most pricey of them all. But for a very good reason, indeed. Like most things in Italy, things are done in the traditional and original way, which loosely translates to doing things by hand. Allowing for the utmost care and attention as local harvesters make their way through incredibly fertile volcanic soil, hand‑picking each fruit from trees blooming out of cracks and crevices created by lava.

Pistachios can also be found in other parts of the world, but the magical black volcanic soil along with the Sicilian sun and weather plays a vital role in producing a sweet, pure, and delicate flavour robust in natural healthy oils, giving you a buttery crispness as you take a bite, and also in developing Bronte’s beautiful distinct emerald hue tinged with blonde, beige, and purple. Italians have used their “green gold” in various dishes, from sweet to savoury, decorating each dish with its flavours and colour. Whether it’s a generously squeezed paste oozing out of a freshly baked pastry or delicately churned with crunchy chunks in a satisfying gelato, Bronte’s pistachios are usually behind your wonderful experiences in every bite.

You’ll definitely see freshly baked bakeries adorned and speckled with vivid green, from finely chopped roasted chunks to a smooth and velvety homemade cream, as you glance into an array of pastry delights at Grazia’s. The flavours achieved by using only the finest imported Bronte pistachios have allowed Grazia’s to serve you true, authentic, and rich flavours of Sicilian tradition and win the hearts of many, with not just our pastry perfections, but also with our homemade artisanal pistachio gelato; the King of Gelato flavours.
